Romeo & Juliet

They will do anything to be together, but their families will do anything to keep them apart. Romeo & Juliet is without doubt the world’s greatest love story and the Royal New Zealand Ballet brings the exciting tale back to the stage by popular demand.

The production took New Zealand by storm in 2003 when Christopher Hampson’s visual and electrifying ballet first premiered. Following a successful UK tour, it was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Production in 2005.

Featuring a dynamic colour palette by designer Tracy Grant Lord, this production will see former Royal New Zealand Ballet dancers Cameron McMillan and Amy Hollingsworth return to star as the famous star-crossed lovers.

Cameron McMillan Former Royal New Zealand Ballet dancer Cameron McMillan has a huge international following. After four years with the Royal New Zealand Ballet, he joined the English National Ballet as a soloist in 2001.
Over the years Cameron has danced many roles in both the classical and contemporary repertoire. He is also interested in choreography and last year created the acclaimed Equilibrium for the Royal New Zealand Ballet.
Cameron currently lives in London and is a member of the Bonachela Dance Company.

Amy Hollingsworth Former Royal New Zealand Ballet dancer Amy Hollingsworth is currently the assistant artistic director of London’s Bonachela Dance Company.

After leaving the Royal New Zealand Ballet in 1997 Amy joined Peter Schaufuss ballet as a principal dancer and performed as a guest artist with MBT Dansteater.

In April 2000 she joined Rambert Dance Company. In January 2005 Amy won the Critic’s Circle Dance Award for most outstanding female artist for her work with Rambert Dance Company. Amy left Rambert in April 2006 to be a founding member of Bonachela Dance Company.
